Head of Credentials Programme (Academic)

Director of Studies: Mrs Sherrie Cuthbert

Senior Students in the Chemistry Laboratory

Heads of Year (Pastoral)

Head of Year Eleven: Mrs Danielle Goucher

Head of Year Twelve: Mr Gavin Neuper

The Credentials Programme provides invaluable assistance to the senior members of the student body in all areas of their holistic education. A wide range of academic subjects are offered to those who wish to gain Overall Position (OP) eligibility through the study of Queensland Studies Authority subjects, in addition to those who seek vocational pathways on their journey to life beyond Year 12.
Typically, graduates who maintain OP eligibility in the senior years perform extremely well. The strong Queensland Core Skills Test (QCST) preparation programme offered at the College ensures that our students significantly exceed state expectations in the distribution of grades awarded in this important test.

The Class of 2010 produced another strong set of results with 6 students awarded an OP1.

OP range

Saint Stephen’s College results (2010 graduates)

Queensland State results

OP1 6% 2%
1-5 22% 18%
1-10  52%  45%

These excellent results are even more outstanding than they first appear because Saint Stephen's has a very high proportion of theYear 12 class who are OP eligible.

In addition to their academic studies, students in the Credentials Programme have the opportunity to participate in the College’s many sporting programmes, Musical Bands and Ensembles, Inter-school competitions such as Debating, Public Speaking, and Chess, and in school activities such as House carnivals, Battle of the Bands Competitions, and drama presentations and School Musicals.

The Year 11 leadership retreat is an important opportunity for students to undertake a Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan review, and to learn more about the demands of life in the senior years of the College. Leadership positions at the College include traditional College Captain and Prefect appointments, as well as specific portfolio positions such as International, Academic, Sport, Cultural and Chapel captaincy positions.

The Heads of Year play important roles in the pastoral development of College seniors. Students at the College would find a warm and supportive environment that exists amongst staff and students; one where staff plays important mentoring roles for our young people. The College encourages parents make contact with relevant staff members at the College should the need arise.

Students in the Credentials Programme have many opportunities to participate in programs sponsored by The Goda Foundation.

Students graduating from The College are typically happy, well-educated, respectful, industrious young people who are ready to contribute to the wider community.
