Drama

Drama is a vehicle for understanding. We can use Drama to gain knowledge about our world, our society and our culture. We can use Drama to understand each other and how we communicate and relate to others, one to one and in groups. Finally, we can use Drama to help us to understand ourselves, learning how to motivate and discipline ourselves, to problem solve and to take responsibility for our own achievements. All of these opportunities make Drama a valuable subject for students who wish to be successful, self motivated and high-level communicators.Drama at Saint Stephen’s College is offered as an elective subject from Years 8 to 12. The programme provides students with a range of opportunities to learn about themselves and the world we will live in through numerous dramatic mediums. It enables both individuals and groups to explore, shape and symbolically represent ideas and feelings.Students who study Drama have the ability to become:

The areas of forming, presenting and responding are interrelated and complementary as they allow students to explore and highlight their talent in all areas of the Dramatic Arts.

Lachlan MilesLachlan Miles started Taekwondo three years ago with local Master Glenn Parmley of PMA Applied Taekwondo with the aim to learn basic self defence. It became apparent very quickly that Lachlan had a natural talent in the sport and he began to work hard to improve his own standards.

Lachlan has made it to the Queensland State Team again this year (his second year running) and will be travelling to Canberra in October 2010 for the Australian National Titles.

Congratulations to Lachlan for coming so far and good luck for what is yet to come.
