The role of Executive Director of International Education is an executive position at Saint Stephen’s College, responsible for ensuring that all international students receive exceptional pastoral care and support throughout their educational experience. The focus on success in all areas of College life is the primary focus for the Executive Director of International Education.

Sam Holmes holds this position and is passionate about International Education and developing a global perspective within Saint Stephen’s College. Sam has travelled extensively throughout Asia and Europe and has personally experienced the life of an international student. Sam speaks Japanese and has first hand knowledge of many different cultures and communities. There are also other staff members that speak other languages. Sam works closely with the Pastoral Care Team at Saint Stephen’s College to ensure that all international students are cared for and supported throughout their study. International Education at Saint Stephen’s College aims to develop a community of learners who value all people. We work together to develop character and inspire hope.

College Counsellor – Mrs Desiree Geldenhuys
The college counsellor is responsible for the social and emotional welfare of all college students. This can range counselling for anxiety, depression, academic stress, adjustment difficulties and consultation for learning difficulties. Where applicable, this can also involve assisting parents with concern resolution. The college counsellor is a registered psychologist. The office is located in the Student Welfare and Pastoral Care Centre.

Careers Advisor – Mr David Bear
In my role as Careers Advisor, I am available to assist the international students in a number of ways: I educate them about the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre, the tertiary application process and assist in applying to tertiary institutions. Within Queensland, interstate and internationally. I explain the Queensland OP system as well as I support students with making career choices and counsel them through the decision making process. I assist with subject choices and tertiary prerequisites. I conduct an integrated series of career and learning assessments with individuals.
