National Interactive Teaching and Learning Conference

Saint Stephen’s College is pleased to be hosting this national conference on 12, 13 and 14 August, 2010. The landscaped grounds and wonderful facilities of the College will provide an ideal setting for hundreds of educators from around Australia. We are pleased to be working with IWBNet, a company that has been espousing the benefits of effective technology for many years. Details of the conference, including a flyer and a Conference Program, can be found by clicking here.

Saint Stephen’s College has invested in significant technology resources to enhance the academics of the College. Interactive White Boards are present in every Primary classroom from Years 1 to 6, as well as several specialist areas.

More importantly, the College has invested heavily in Professional Development for staff so that maximum educational benefit can be gained from the technology.

The majority of Years 1 to 6 classes have their own class Wiki. These allow collaboration and familiarity with online learning at an early age; they also enhance the class and College sense of community.

The College has an ‘industrial strength’ wireless network accessible throughout the campus. All of Saint Stephen’s staff utilise laptops as an integral part of the school day. Saint Stephen’s College provides a number of web-based portals for staff, students and parents. This allows anywhere, any-time access to resources which the College believes is a priority.

Parents of students in Years 7 to 12 can access specific information for their child. This includes details such as:

* daily timetables and contact details of teachers
* medical information
* past academic reports
* assignment task sheets and due dates
* results of many assessment tasks as they are marked during the term.

Several new innovations are currently under development. These are designed to prepare students for the ever-growing technological world while retaining the fundamentals of a successful education.
