Year 3 Sleep Over
On Friday 22 August, the intrepid Year 3 students and their daring teachers were involved in the annual Year 3 Sleepover at Saint Stephen’s College. Although we were greeted by a cool and rainy day, that didn’t dampen the spirits of the Year 3 students as they busied themselves with a variety of fun activities. Being allowed to come to school in free dress certainly added to the excitement of the day!
The students participated in a ‘Giggle Poetry Workshop’ which was run by ‘Miss Helen’, guest author and children’s poetry writer, Helen Ross. The students listened to a variety of poems, wrote some poems with Miss Helen and wrote some poems of their own. This workshop linked perfectly to the Poetry Unit we have been studying in English this term. It was wonderful to listen to the students answer Miss Helen’s questions about poetry, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the topic.Read more »

Great community service shown by our international students from Japan!
This year eight students from our Japanese sister school, Okayama Gakugeikan, added to the international flavour of the Gold Coast marathon by running on Saturday and volunteering to serve drinks on Sunday.
These students attend our College for a year to learn English and experience our culture. These students decided the marathon weekend was a great way to become involved in both the College and community activities. It was quite noticeable the positive impact on the many Japanese runners who participated in the event when they heard encouragement in their native language! This service included a couple of very early mornings and our international students did this with a smile and a lot of enthusiasm. Well done, guys! We are very proud of you and we know the runners from Australia and Japan were very grateful.Read more »
Barefoot in the Park
On Friday, 13 June, all students in Years 1, 2 and 3 participated in our annual Barefoot in the Park celebration, as part of Under 8’s Week.
It was a fun morning where the children, their teachers and parents came together to highlight the importance of children in our community and the contributions that they make. The fabulous Foundations staff organised so many amazing activity stations for the children to enjoy. These included face painting, kite making, bubble painting, kitty album making, book magnets, icing biscuits, hairdressing, fairy bread, fruit rockets, dress ups and many, many more! The sun shone, despite the threat of rain, and happy faces filled the Eastern playground!Read more »
Students ‘shave off’ for a great cause.
