APS Athletics Carnival
Week 5 in Term 3 saw a Junior team of 56 Athletes and a Senior team of 80 Athletics head off to compete in the APS Athletics Carnival.
All student represented the College admirably and we had six students gain Age Champions places. APS in the Right Spirit Award was awarded to three of our students who conducted themselves in an exemplary manner in competing, sportsmanship and team spirit. The APS Carnival also serves the purpose of the Hinterland District Trial. A number of students have made this level and will compete in the Regional Athletics Carnival in early September.Read more »
APS Summer Sport
The APS Inter-school Summer Sport competition has commenced for Senior School.
Students compete in Softball, Touch Football, Basketball, Tennis, Water Polo, AFL, Kayaking, Cricket and Chess with an after-school training session once a week and competition on Friday afternoons. Junior School have commenced pre-season training on Thursday afternoons, with Softball, Basketball, Touch Football, AFL and Cricket on offer. Interhouse Athletics Carnival
Interhouse Athletics Carnival Both Senior and Junior Athletics Carnivals were held early this term in beautiful Winter weather.
A number of records were broken this year in both running and field events. The high jump event is always particularly exciting to watch.
Participation in our Junior Carnival was at an all-time high with students able to compete in any event they wished too. Our Seniors did us proud too and as well as competing in track and field the “Carnival” atmosphere with costumes and inter-house rivalry was very entertaining.
‘Young Starters Entrepreneurs’ Winner
Congratulations to Year 11 student Grant Sampson who won the recent ‘Young Starters Entrepreneurs’ Competition’ held at Steve Baxter’s River City Laboratory in Brisbane.
Grant’s business development was a fishing app called ‘Brag Tag’. It won him $45,000 worth of start-up prizes to help him enter the world of young entrepreneurs.Read more »
A Busy Week of Concerts
A busy week of concerts signed off the first semester in the Perfuming Arts with a special evening Chamber Music Concert hosted by the iCentre and catered by the Friends of the Arts (FOTA).
The audience was treated to a variety of small ensemble performances, including the flute, junior and senior string quartets and quintets, and the Senior Piano Trio.Read more »
