LATEST NEWS!!!

On Friday 23 July, students from Years 1 to 6 put on their best disco gear and had a great time at the 2010 P&F Disco.  This event has become an annual highlight on the Junior School Calendar.  Students get together with their mates and have a dance to some great music played by a professional DJ, while some parents stay around have a chat and a coffee outside the GFA.

Check out some of the great outfits and good times had by the students.

The second annual Golf Day organised by the current committee was held at Parkwood International Golf Course, Sunday 6 June. The day started with one of those spectacular crisp, sunny mornings that only the Gold Coast can offer at this time of the year.

We had around 80 golfers, who had a fabulous day. Thank you to Graeme McCurdy who showed us all how to hit a ball really far (and we raised around $800 from his efforts), and Matthew Ecob, who showed us how to swing a club in true style. Thanks again to Graeme who flew out from Perth especially for this event.

Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors, especially Burling Brown Architects our Gold sponsor and Get It Magazine/Island Printing, our Silver sponsors. There were loads of prizes, which always add to an event of this nature, a list of all our sponsors is on the back of this magazine. Please support them where you can.

To all the golfers, thank you for turning out, it was great to see some of you again, and we look forward to hosting you at next year’s event.

To the P&F team (and to Karen Potter, special thanks for stepping up when it counted,) thank you all for doing your thing – as usual – which made this event a great success. So until next year..... Happy golfing!

Nao OnishiNao Onishi

In April 2010 SSC Student Nao Onishi (Year 10) teamed up with Runaway Bay Japanese tennis star Nao Hibino at the ITF Gallipoli Youth Cup. They scored 6-1, 6-4 in the final at the Ipswich tournament which attracted the best juniors in the Australasian region.

Nao is definitely one of our promising Tennis Stars to watch
