Scholarships

Saint Stephen’s College offers Scholarships based on Academic, Academic/General Ability, and Performance Excellence for students entering Year 7 and Year 10 in 2024.  We are also introducing a two-year Scholarship of Performance Potential in the areas of Sport and Performing Arts for students entering Years 5 in 2024.

Academic and Academic/General Ability Scholarships are awarded on the results of an ACER exam, to be held on Saturday 25 February 2023, and a review of a comprehensive portfolio that includes:

  • School reports for the past two years, including the most recent one
  • NAPLAN results, including the most recent one
  • A list of recent awards and achievements

Also, please include a handwritten letter by the student outlining the reasons why they should be considered for this scholarship.

Performance Excellence Scholarships are based on the demonstration of excellence in a particular field, namely Sports or Performing Arts.  The application for a Performance Excellence Scholarship must also be supported by the provision of a comprehensive portfolio that includes:

  • School reports for the past two years, including the most recent one
  • NAPLAN results, including the most recent one
  • A list of recent awards and achievements

Also, please include a handwritten letter by the student outlining the reasons why they should be considered for this scholarship.

With respect to the Sports Excellence Scholarship, students are required to attend the morning of Saturday 25 February for a series of Sports Trials. In regard to the Performing Arts Excellence Scholarship, students are required to attend an audition on Saturday 25 February.  Once applications close, audition times shall be sent to applicants.

Scholarships for 2024

Applications for scholarships entering 2024 open on Tuesday 8 November 2022 and close at 12 midnight (AEDST) on Friday 3 February 2023.  The scholarship test, Sports Trials and Music Performance Auditions will be held on Saturday 25 February 2023 at the College.

How to apply for an Academic and Academic/General Ability Scholarship

  1. Go to the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) website, to register for the examination, and pay the examination fee
  2. Complete an Application for Scholarship 2024 form

  3. Upload a portfolio to the Application for Scholarship 2024 form above, that includes:
  • School reports for the past two years, including the most recent one
  • NAPLAN results, including the most recent one

Scholarship testing is administered by the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) and supervised by Saint Stephen’s College staff on examination day. All bookings and enquiries with regards to ACER scholarships exams should be made directly to ACER scholarships@acer.org or call 1300 768 952.

Saint Stephen’s College does not publish, nor share, examination results with applicants. Saint Stephen’s College does not provide, nor endorse, any service provider offering practice exams for the ACER scholarship tests.

How to apply for a Performance Excellence Scholarship

  2. Upload a portfolio to the Application for Scholarship 2024 form above, that includes:

  • NAPLAN results, including the most recent one

Also, please include a handwritten letter by the student outlining the reasons why they should be considered for this scholarship.

For Sports Excellence Scholarships, applicants will be invited to trial with the Director of Sport. Applicants will complete standard fitness tests under the instruction of the College’s High-Performance Coaches.

For Performing Arts Excellence Scholarships, applicants will be invited to audition with the Director of Performing Arts and an audition panel. Applicants should prepare two contrasting pieces to perform and a scale of their choice. Applicants will also be expected to undertake a sight-reading exercise prepared by members of the audition panel.
