Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert – Mr Mitchell Mills

As a College we celebrate the five Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts (MIEEs) that will join the class of 2020 – 2021, celebrating the great work we are doing in the use of technology and innovative practice that is at the heart of Saint Stephen’s College.
As one of the five teachers from the College, Mr Mitchell Mills, Senior College teacher, shares what it means to him.
“Due to the ever changing nature of the teaching profession, particularly this year with the transition to a period of online learning, it was essential that I leveraged various technology platforms to keep my students engaged from home. To do this, I spent countless hours researching education platforms, as well as reaching out to colleagues on both a national and international scale to get an insight into ways they were incorporating technology in their practice. It is so rewarding to be recognised by such a large corporation, that is Microsoft, at an international level for the work many educators have done in ensuring their students are engaged in meaningful learning experiences. I look forward to connecting with other inspiring educators across the globe, gaining access to curriculum and online professional development, and continuing my journey as a lifelong learner.”
The MIEE program runs across 83 countries bringing together educators who are passionate about engaging and empowering students through the successful integration of digital technology. A self-nomination process, educators are selected for the exceptional teaching and learning programs they deliver.
