Welcome

Sam Holmes – Executive Director of International Education

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our Saint Stephen’s College community. We have built a reputation for providing world-class education for international students from all over the world and are proud to offer a friendly, safe and future focussed environment in which all students are challenged to achieve their full potential.

As the person responsible for the pastoral care of international students, I personally open my door to you and your family, adult carers and friends at any time.

Saint Stephen’s College recognises we are all members of a greater global community. We aim to develop that global awareness in all our students and staff, fostering the knowledge, skills and values that equip young people to involve themselves in their community and the broader world.

We invite students from various countries, cultures and religions to be part of our student population from Preparatory (Preschool) to Year 12 (graduation). The diversity in our College encourages all students to actively participate as a ‘world citizen’. Our learning environment relies heavily on co-operative learning and action, sharing responsibilities, critical thinking and communication. Diverse and connected, Saint Stephen’s College is a place where all students feel they genuinely belong.

Moving to another country and starting at a new school can be very stressful, as students attempt to quickly learn how things are done and feel comfortable in a new setting. There is no better learning experience than ‘just being there and doing it’. My aim is to support you in every step as you learn the Saint Stephen’s way and make your education a positive experience, academically and socially.

The success of our supportive College community is achieved through exceptional pastoral care. Individual needs are carefully considered, whilst progress and development are continually monitored. We equip our students with the foundations for achievement across all areas including academic, social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing in the school environment.

I look forward to working with you and your family as we embark on our shared journey as members of the Saint Stephen’s College family.

Yours sincerely

Sam Holmes – Executive Director of International Education

I feel that Saint Stephen’s College is the best school in Queensland to start your new life!

When I started my new life at Saint Stephen’s College, I could not speak English well, so I learnt English in intensive English classes integrated with mainstream classes which gave me the ability to communicate with other students and teachers. This support was significant for me because you cannot do well in other subjects before mastering English. There is another big support on campus, the friendly students. Through cultural events and visitors from all over the world, everyone understands other cultures and knows how to be a good friend, so the atmosphere of the College is warm and makes you feel welcome! I have improved not only English, but also my character. I am proud to be a Saint Stephen’s College student.
