Drama is one of the oldest art forms. People have always used drama as a vehicle for understanding to contextualise their experiences and gain knowledge about the world, society and culture.
Speech and Drama
Students who study speech and drama at Saint Stephen's College develop better communication skills, clarity of expression and social confidence. This prepares students for their future educational and professional challenges.
Theatralis is the College's large-scale theatre production. Running every second year, the production is designed to bring original theatre to the Saint Stephen's College community and gives students a grand opportunity to demonstrate their performance skills.
Students studying technical theatre gain a nationally recognised qualification and practical experience using the latest industry standard equipment. Students are offered opportunities to work alongside industry professionals as they apply their skills at the College's events and large-scale productions.
Saint Stephen's College students have achieved excellent results in drama both individually and through participation in large-scale productions. The recent Saint Stephen's College Musical 'Into the Woods' was nominated for a record 42 awards in the Gold Coast Area Theatre awards. A number of students have also been individually recognised in both regional and state drama competitions including; Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Gold Coast Secondary Schools Drama Festival and Youth Theatre Sports
