House Swimming Carnivals
On the 5th and 8th of February, Saint Stephen’s College held their annual Senior and Junior House Swimming Carnivals.
As per usual, this major event in the school’s calendar was nothing short of an inspiring spectacle. Whether you found yourself in awe, watching the array of talented swimmers we have at our school, or driven to your feet in support of our international students, some of which have never swum before. In either case, what makes our swimming carnival extraordinary is the sheer student body, parent and staff support that is present during every race and the willingness of students to participate, regardless of their swimming abilities. Every year, there is also a ‘spirit’ aspect that accompanies the carnival. The winners of this award are identified to have exhibited a high level of sportsmanship and support through cheering and war cries, as well as being a house with a high percentage of student participation on the day. This year, all of the houses, both senior and junior, were committed in and out of the pool. Thank you to all the staff and students who helped with various duties throughout the carnival and of course the parents who came and supported on the day. These carnivals are a proud tradition at our school and it’s great to see so many get involved and contribute to its success every year. Lachlan Eyers Sports Captain 2016« Back to Index
