Year 6 Camp – Cairns

Our Year 6 students are enjoying their camp in Cairns.  They visited Hartley's Crocodile Adventure Park and Mossman Gorge. At Hartley’s, they had a caged boat tour amongst some savage crocodiles which was very exciting! They also learned about these fascinating creatures at the Crocodile Feeding Show and got up close and personal with some koalas, wallabies and kangaroos. At Mossman Gorge the students were treated to a ‘Smoking Ceremony’ and ‘Welcome to Country’, by an Indigenous guide from the region. On a guided walk, they learned about how our Traditional Owners use their land, taking only what they need.

While we didn’t take home a category award, just being nominated and getting through to the Finals for the incredible and tireless work you do above and beyond your normal duties makes you all winners in our eyes.

Sumo Robotics APS Competition

Saint Stephen's College hosted the inaugural Sumo Robotics APS Competition for Years 4-6 on Tuesday 9 August 2022.  The day was brilliantly hosted by Daniel Davies-Pryce and robotics specialist Damien Kee.

There was a swarm of excitement at our first inter-school Spelling Bee. We had four schools participate in what will now be an annual event – Canterbury College, Coomera Springs State School, Emmanuel College and LORDS.

Tahli Devine QLD U18 Rugby 7’s

A huge congratulations to Year 12 student, Tahli Devine, who was recently selected in the Queensland U18 School Girls Rugby 7’s team. Tahli represented Queensland in the National Championships in Sydney over the holiday break, joining her team into the Grand Final and being awarded best on ground in one of the games.

Junior Athletics Carnival

Our annual Junior Athletics Carnival was a massive success! Two days chock-full of activities saw our students participating in shot put, discus, high jump, long jump and many different track events. True College spirit was on show, with students not only giving their best efforts, but cheering on their friends and supporting those in need. We had some incredible results and impressive athletic feats! Thank you to all the parents and special friends who came to support, as well as our incredible faculty and student helpers who not only ensured a smooth event, but that everyone had a great time.

Prep to Year 3 Cross Country

Our Prep to Year 3 Cross Country Carnival was amazing with a huge turnout of parents, grandparents and special friends to cheer on our Junior College. Our students put in loads of effort racing for their respective houses. A special shoutout goes to Year 3 student Carter, who was a fantastic co-commentator with Mrs Jane Couche. Congratulations to Haley House, who were the champions on the day, but moreso congratulations to all our competitors who showed tremendous College spirit, getting stuck in and having a go.
